Hey everyone! Andy here from MrYouWho and today I’m bringing you a hands-on review of the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro Robotic Pool Cleaner, tested right here in my own pool in the beautiful Surfers Paradise, Queensland. Overlooking the Gold Coast’s stunning waterways, I put the Scuba S1 Pro through its paces to see if it could handle a real-world setting.
I’ll be walking you through the unboxing, setup, key features, and of course, testing it in my pool to see just how well it works.

Unboxing the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro
Opening the Scuba S1 Pro, I was immediately impressed by how well-packaged everything was. Inside the box, you get the robotic pool cleaner, a compact power adapter, a retrieval hook for easy removal, extra PVC brushes, and a high-capacity 5L debris basket. As someone who’s used a few robotic cleaners, I was excited by the sleek, sturdy look of this unit – at around 12kg, it’s substantial yet manageable. The design feels robust, and the components come together with a quality build that gives a great first impression.
The setup is refreshingly straightforward. I charged the Scuba S1 Pro for a few hours (takes about 4 hours for a full charge), held down the power button to start it, and watched it go to work. Right out of the box, it defaulted to Auto Mode, designed for a comprehensive clean of both the pool floor and walls. This simplicity is fantastic – no need to mess with complicated settings unless you want to, and I was ready to test it against the Gold Coast’s natural elements.
Powerful Features & Real-World Testing
Now, onto the part that really matters – the actual cleaning. My pool can get its fair share of leaves, sand, and fine particles, especially after a windy day here on the coast. The Scuba S1 Pro’s powerful suction and ultra-fine three-micron filter made a strong impression. This filter captures even the smallest particles, including dirt and sand that tend to settle at the bottom.
I decided to test its capabilities by setting it to different modes:
- Auto Mode: This is a comprehensive mode that cleans both floors and walls. It’s great for weekly deep cleans, and in my test, the Scuba S1 Pro moved methodically around the pool, climbing the walls and gliding smoothly along the waterline.
- Floor Mode: This mode focuses solely on the pool floor, covering it in an “S” pattern for efficient cleaning. Perfect for a quick clean when you don’t need a full scrub, it left the bottom of the pool looking crystal clear.
- Waterline Mode: One of my favorites, this mode cleans horizontally along the pool’s edge. I get a buildup at the waterline from time to time, and the Scuba S1 Pro made short work of it, leaving a noticeable difference in brightness.
- Wall Mode: Dedicated to vertical surfaces, this mode works in an “N” pattern, ensuring that no wall area is missed. The caterpillar tracks gripped well, making it easy for the cleaner to move up and down without losing traction.
- Eco Mode: If you’re looking to keep your pool pristine between deeper cleans, this mode activates a 45-minute clean every 48 hours. Set it and forget it – perfect for busy weeks.
I love the flexibility these modes offer. The Aiper Scuba S1 Pro is truly versatile and can adapt to whatever your pool needs. It even handled some of the tougher-to-reach areas near the steps, which was a pleasant surprise.
WavePath Navigation and Sensor Technology
One of the standout features of this robotic cleaner is its WavePath Navigation 2.0, which uses multiple sensors to map and adapt to the pool layout. In my pool, which has a few curved edges, the Scuba S1 Pro moved effortlessly, covering every inch and avoiding any collisions. It even made its way over the steps, adjusting its direction seamlessly thanks to those clever sensors.
With each cleaning session, I could see how it mapped out a route that didn’t just randomly cover areas but actually followed a logical path to ensure complete coverage. This level of intelligence gives me peace of mind, knowing it won’t miss a spot.
Battery Life: Ideal for Larger Pools
The battery life on this thing is excellent! The Scuba S1 Pro provides up to 3 hours of continuous cleaning, which is enough to cover pools up to 200 square meters. If I just wanted to do a quick touch-up, it could easily handle multiple sessions. And thanks to the Quick Charge feature, it was ready to go again the next day after a few hours of charging. For busy pool owners, this battery performance is a real asset.
Using the Aiper App for Full Control
The Aiper App is a great addition to the Scuba S1 Pro package. Connecting to the robot through Wi-Fi is simple, and the app provides full control over the cleaning modes, displays battery levels, and even lets you check when it’s time to clean the filter or replace the brushes. It’s user-friendly and straightforward.
One point to note is that the app’s Wi-Fi connection won’t work once the cleaner is underwater, so it’s best to set your mode before placing it in the pool. While I would love the ability to change modes mid-clean, the app still provides helpful insights and makes it easy to track performance and maintenance reminders.
Maintenance Made Easy
Maintenance with the Scuba S1 Pro is a breeze. Once it completes a cycle, it docks near the edge of the pool for easy retrieval using the provided hook. The device quickly drains and, at 12kg, is light enough to handle. To clean the debris, simply pop open the top, remove the basket, and give it a quick rinse. Aiper includes replacement brushes as well, so you’re covered if they ever wear out. I was especially pleased with how easy it was to maintain and keep clean between uses.
Final Thoughts on the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro
After weeks of testing, the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro has proven itself as a solid investment for any pool owner. Its ability to tackle various pool shapes, navigate obstacles, and adjust to different cleaning needs makes it an invaluable tool for maintaining a pristine pool. The ultra-fine filter and strong suction pick up particles that other cleaners miss, and the five customizable cleaning modes give it an edge over competitors. Plus, it’s hard to beat that impressive battery life.
If you’re looking for a high-performing robotic pool cleaner that makes pool maintenance nearly effortless, the Aiper Scuba S1 Pro is worth considering.
