JBL Tune 220TWS Review

In this latest review from Mr.YouWho we will be doing a review and unboxing of the JBL Tune 220TWS Headphones. We will also be using the headphones will out running, cycling and at the gym so we can test how they are when on the go. We will also do an example of how the music sounds through the headphones and give our final verdict.

Initial Impressions

On opening up the box I can see that the appearance is somewhat similar to that of Apple Airpods, but I would say the JBL TUNE 220TWS has a much more stylish and younger in design.

JBL TUNE 220TWS headphones use a textured industrial design in appearance, with metal finishes which gives it a really nice look. I particularly like the design which looks like a small pebble or sea shell. They also come in 6 popular color choices, come quickly to customize to your own fashion style.

The JBL TUNE 220TWS comes with a charging case that has an arc shaped flip that can quickly remove the headphones. This is a really nice feature.

Design

In the wearing experience, JBL TUNE 220TWS adopts ergonomic in-ear design with a long stem, again similar to the Apple AirPods. The headphones sit comfortably in the ear and do not move around very much. I used them when running, cycling and at the gym and found that they sat very comfortably and did not come out at all.

The headphones are also very lightweight only coming in at 57grams total with the case which is slightly less than the Apple Airpods.

Sound Quality

The sound quality of the headphones is excellent with a 12mm driver featuring JBL Pure Bass Sound. The headphones have low distortion and excellent precision characteristics, the bass, treble was very clear and the human voice singing is very clear and powerful.

In our Youtube Review we sample the headphones across a number of different music genres and found that it always played crisp, clear and rich sounds. And because the headphones sit so well on the ears it blocked out a lot of external noise so they could be used at the gym.

JBL have done an excellent job with sound here and they are on par if not better than the Apple Airpods.

I used them for audio/voice calls and found the quality to be excellent. The JBL Tune 220 TWS use a noise cancellation microphone to effectively reduce the ambient noise in the call and pick up the human voice more accurately. This means I could use them when I was at the gym and people could still here me. You could use them whether you want to do a business call or video conference at home or in the office.

JBL 220TWS Other Features

JBL TUNE 220TWS uses Bluetooth 5.0 chip, which brings higher quality sound quality, low game delay, low power consumption and high code stream audio transmission, it also makes the wireless headphones providing a much more stable connection.

The earbuds also give you up to 3 hours of nonstop sound plus another 16 hours from the pocket-sized charging case. The JBL 220TWS takes around 1.5 hours to charge in the case and you get around 5 charges before having to recharge the case itself.

Final Thoughts

We found the JBL Tune 220TWS to be an excellent allround headphone. They performed very well when using them in strenuous exercise. The sound is clear, crisp and vibrant. They are really good to use on voice and video calls and the style means that they sit light in the ears and very often you forget you even have them on.

They are a very good alternative to the Apple Airpods.
