Smael Watch Review - Is this a good quality watch?

In this Smael Watch Review we look at whether Smael watches are good quality? And can a cheap watch like this really be good?

In this Smael watch review we take an in depth look at this watch and determine whether it is good value for money and whether you should purchase it. In fact you will be pleasantly surprised with the quality and price of this watch.

In this Smael watch review we are going to be looking at whether this is a good watch, including looking at the quality, the features , the performance and most importantly whether you should buy this watch. Now let’s dive into the Smael watch at Mr.YouWho!

Now at MrYouWho we have already done a review of a number of cheaper Chinese watches, such as the Lige watch and Curren watch which can be seen here with links in the description. With each of these watches we found that in most cases you were paying a lot less and still getting a lot of bang for your buck with quality, value and functionality.

Now moving to the Smael watch does it also stack up this time?

The reason why I first became interested in the Smael watch is that I have been a big Casio G-Shock fan in the past (show in the picture), which I will be also be doing a review of. The idea of having a watch (show Smael) that combines the style and functionaility of the G-Shock but being as much as 70% lower in price really appealed to me.

But really is it possible to have a watch that can be up there with the G-Shock?

Well let’s take a look by first starting to have a look at the Smael SL-1545.

Now as you can see this is a larger watch, as pictured here, it sits very large on the wrist and is quite heavy.  This means it would be very good for outdoor activity and with the watch being 50 metres water resistant it can also be used in shallow water activities including swimming.

Let’s jump in now and have a look at the watch.

As you can see this watch has a lovely design, with it’s quartz and digital movement combined with it’s LED display it looks really good. It is also shock resistant and has an alarm chronograph and date and time display. I also like the fact that the watch has a really bright backlight display that means the watch can shine.

It also comes in several different colours. It is strong and durable with a hardneded glass screen being backed up with strengthened rubber casing. One of the downsides I can see is it doesn’t have a warranty like other watches I have reviewed which means it might be difficult to fix if there are any issues.

Now this appears to be one of the most popular brands of Smael watches with nearly 900 reviews being 4.8 out of 5 stars. With in nearly all cases being very positive with comments such as “A super watch with very good quality” and “an extraordinary watch for the price”

For our viewers we do recommend this as a great quality sports watch for the price and it’s features and design and whilst it is not a G-Shock watch you won’t go wrong in owning it. And again there are links to purchasing the items in the description below.

Now the next watch we will be looking at is the Smael 1802 which is here.

As you can see this watch whilst maintaining a similar look to the Smael 1545 it is very different. The first thing you can see is the all digital face which I really like. The other thing to note is that this watch is actually really big, to give you an idea of how big the watch is I have shown a picture here so you can get a comparison (insert pic).

I personally have smaller wrists so a watch of this size looks fairly big on my wrist, so I wouldn’t recommend if you like smaller watches.

I do love the large display though and the watch comes in some really nice colours.

Let’s have a look now at the watch …

As you can see the watch has a very sturdy construction with a large LED display for the time. The 2 buttons to the right are for the stop watch whilst the buttons to the left are for the different modes and the light.

The modes include stopwatch, timer, alarm and calendar. The backlight is really good of a nighttime and the watch like the previous one is waterproof to 50m and shock resistant.

The watch comes in 8 colours which includes the blue colour which is personally one of my favourite colours.

So all in all it looks like a really good watch for the price point and it appears to be one of the most popular Smael watches online. In one particular store there were over 1000 4.7 out of 5 star reviews with comments such as “Excellent watches, looks more expensive than their cost” and “very beautiful and very large, good quality and excellent value for money”

I would just say though that there has been a small number of complaints regarding watch not working and some small defects though this doesn’t appear to be any higher than other watches in this price bracket I have removed.

So what about the Mr.YouWho verdict. Again we recommend this watch for it’s price point, if you like to have a large, sturdy watch that you can use whilst out and about then this watch is perfect for you. Again whilst it is not a G-shock watch it still has much of the similar designs and characteristics of that watch.

Now let’s take a review of the watch looking at Design, Function, Build Value and Overall thoughts.

• Design – 4/5 – Great design for the money very similar to G-Shock
• Functionality 4/5 – Surprising amount of functionality including Date, time,    alarm and stopwatch
• Build – 4.5/5 - Strong sturdy build, including being waterproof and 
• Value – 4/5 – Cheap and affordable digital watch
• Overall thoughts - 4/5

All in all these are great watches for the price, but of course, they won’t be winning a watch of the year award. Keep your expectations in check and realise that you are getting  decent watch for the money. Then I am sure you will be more than happy with the results.
